It’s with immense sadness we share that Lawrence “Larry” Francis Hosey, Jr. passed from complications from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on February 11, 2025.
He loved his bride of 55 years, Mary. He loved his granddaughter, Kayla. The rest of us could get in line after those two. In addition to Mary and Kayla, he is survived by his two sons, Jim and Keith (Shannon), siblings, Jim, Gene (Terrie), Mark (Janet), Mary Kay (Joe Zuba), Beth Ann Shull (Mark), Pat (Kathleen), many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Sr., mother, Elizabeth McCabe Hosey, and sister-in-law, Shauna.
He loved the outdoors and gardening. He loved the simple pleasures, like a fresh cherry tomato from the garden, cut in half, covered with salt and pepper - or looking up on a clear night. He was a lifelong scientist. Biologist by education, astronomer by passion.
He loved a black and tan, an Oktoberfest and a Yuengling. Raise one for him. There will be a celebration of life on July 12th in Louisville, KY (Loc TBD).
If you feel compelled to honor his life monetarily, please consider donating to the Center for Accessible Living (https://www.calky.org/

Keith, Shannon, Kayla and family, We are so sorry for your loss and are thinking of you during your time of grief and mourning. Nothing really prepares us for the loss of a father, grandfather and beloved family member. We are so glad that we got to meet him a few times over the years. What a wonderful tribute you have given him. We will be there to celebrate him in July. With Love, Annette, Frank, Gracie and Charlie

I will truly miss Larry. We were fraternity brothers, fellow biology majors, and enjoyed our Duquesne University adventures. My prayers are with Mary and the entire family.
